I have used Clicker extensively with children of all abilities in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. One of its main benefits is that it is customisable to the needs of any child – I have found it especially useful in structuring writing activities.
In Key Stage 1, I found Clicker to be particularly useful as a tool for building word banks for writing. With SEN users, Clicker is great for keyword recognition.
"I asked them to use Clicker
as the medium for presentation"I am currently teaching a Year 6 class and have recently used Clicker very successfully as part of their SATs revision. The children worked in mixed ability groups to research and present an area of their choice relating to the science curriculum. The children had access to the Internet for their research as well as a variety of books, and I asked them to use Clicker as the medium for presentation. The results were fantastic, with some really pleasing multimedia resources produced on topics as diverse as Sound, Light, Green Plants and Forces. The images used were inserted using the ‘drag and drop’ technology new to Clicker 5.
I find that Clicker is a great partner for my interactive whiteboard – not only to display and use pre-created resources, but critically to be able to produce and create resources ‘live’ in the classroom.
Overall, I have found Clicker to be a very powerful tool in supporting my teaching of children across key stages and ability ranges.
